General Collection Books at MCTC Library

• Bertrand Russell’s History of Western Philosophy (1946), Anthony Kenny’s A Brief History of Western Philosophy (1998) and The Columbia History of Western Philosophy (1999).  Frederick Copleston’s multi-volume A History of Philosophy provides a somewhat more in-depth covering of the same ground.  Many more histories dealing with specific cultures or time periods (e.g. Chinese philosophy, African philosophy, twentieth century philosophy, etc.) can also be found simply by typing “history of philosophy” into the card catalogue.
• If you’re not finding what you want in the MCTC card catalogue, you may want to consider “interlibrary loan” which gives you access to most college libraries in Minnesota.  To do this, go to the MCTC library catalogue search page, and change the “where” to “All PALS” at the top.  Once you find a book at another library, you can select “interlibrary loan” and order it immediately with your library card.  It will come to the library within a few days.
